Noya British School is on a very exciting journey to Outstanding using High Performance Learning as its vehicle. The High Performance Learning approach recognises that all students have the potential to achieve the very highest results and emphasises and develops the attitudes and performance characteristics required for this to happen.

Working collaboratively with outstanding schools both here in Abu Dhabi and across the world, we have been implementing the strategies of High Performance Learning across the school; reaching out beyond our classrooms into our wider learning community. Everyone linked to Noya British School is part of this unique journey towards excellence. We continue to work to embed this strategy into the fabric of everything that we do at Noya and welcome you to join us in learning more about High Performance Learning.

High Performance Learning Framework

Our HPL approach focuses on developing two critical aspects of learning:
  1. Advanced Cognitive Performance Characteristics (ACPs) These are intellectual capabilities that transform how students think and learn:
    • Meta-Thinking: Developing awareness of one’s own learning processes
    • Generalisation: Applying knowledge across different contexts
    • Realisation: Understanding complex conceptual relationships
    • Strategic Thinking: Planning, monitoring, and evaluating learning
    • Critical Analysis: Examining information objectively and deeply
    • Problem-Solving: Creating innovative and analytical solutions
  1. Values, Attitudes, and Attributes (VAAs) These characteristics support students’ personal growth and character development:
    • Collaboration: Working effectively in teams
    • Empathy: Understanding and respecting diverse perspectives
    • Emotional Intelligence: Managing relationships and personal emotions
    • Self-Regulation: Maintaining focus and controlling impulses
    • Resilience: Persevering through challenges
    • Appreciative Thinking: Recognising and valuing achievements
    • Confidence: Believing in one’s abilities
    • Risk-Taking: Embracing new challenges and learning from experiences
